A glimpse of lust

I haven't write for quite awhile, but I just was listening an old song that I love. Wanted to share the meaning (Hope my translation don't suck):
(Click title for the video, it features Kelly Chan!!! OMG! hahaha)

The song is sang by Anthony Wong:

You experience the peace with your sight

But it's not as pleasurable as caressing

When the sun sets, lust devour everything

Will you still look so innocent then?

Couldn't think straight anymore

Couldn't let a night like this be wasted

Do you think you can cover up your body and

Enjoy everything?

The longer the wait, the more desirable it becomes

Let lust take over the night

I don't want to wait till my youth are gone

Before I get it

Are we waiting for the sun raises or building up the emotion

Explore our untold thoughts with our lips

You and I could be the same, hoping to fine the other all day

But it's useless, the days are long

The longer the wait, the more desirable it becomes

Let lust take over the night

Or do we have to wait a lifetime

To regret it

HHW's IMHO: How "Customer's always right" brought down a company

Well, actually that's just part of the reason. haha. Had a bad news the other day. One of the company I used to work for is going to cut alot of people because of some lost account. I didn't work there for a long time. Just a couple of years. But I see so much changes from the day I joined to the day I leave. It started from being professional to being "do what the client told". It's not really like that when I begin, we would usually fight with client about some changes and we back it up w/ reason. We win some, we lost some. But I feel at least that's what being professional means.

But then, "Do as the client said cos they are always right!". After that, what client wants client gets. Things become weird, styles not being follow, the wrong photos used, the wrong text, wrong spelling, everything that can become ammatureish, becomes exactly that. And when things comes up, I wonder how many time the client is gonna said "Yes, it screw up because of me.". It's more likely be "But you guys can always correct me wrong if I make a mistake. That's why I hired you guys.".

Guess customer might not always be right. And actually that's why the company is hired for the job. To make the product professional and correct for the market. No man is an island <-- Love this phase that seems to be lost in today's world. Everyone thinks they are the best. I try to be more humble and soak up everything from people around me, especially their failure. Like they said, you can only fail so many times.

And of course, there are other reasons but I feel that this 'delication' to client's satifaction in a way hinder the relationship, and brought down the company.

(Materialism corrupts the mind): MoSoap

I discovered Pine Tar soap when I have some skin allergy. I'm so prone to skin allergy that it ain't even funny. Anyway, I find the Pine Tar soap really awesome and really don't dry up my skin. I find the smell... abit bad but I can manage. So I went on a soap hunt (Pine Tar soap that is). And I finally come to the destination MoSoap. *Click headline for link*

The soaps are amazing and don't smell bad as with the original one I got from Hong Kong. Anyway, the owner is very nice and you can see the personal touches and delication from the package. I even got some free samples! Maybe because I order it from oversea? For you who have skin allergy or just want some old time soap, give them a try!

(Materialism corrupts the mind) : Prada Phone

The Prada phone... I use installment plans for most of my gadgets unless it's like a couple hundred off if I pay full, otherwise, I do installments. My last phone – Nokia 6131 is 1 year old ( I know, cos I just paid my 12/12 payment), so it's time to do another installment instead! I went and go for the Prada phone! I admit I'm a follower of materialism (but i do have some saving. hee hee). And this phone totally rocks! I find the camera of my last phone is not that good even with a 1.6 million color screen; I think that with cellphones, Asia is abit ahead than the rest of the world (IMHO!). Anyway, Steven and I try to persuade the other to buy the Prada phone by showing each other reviews (only good ones) over msn and photos of the phone. The Scheider lens got me completely sold on this thing and it really didn't disappoints. Also the name Prada is a nice touch! hee hee (係!

Under the law of Skin deep, once you got something, you must go online and reconfirm that this is the only possible choice you have by going to read more good reviews of the thing. hahahaha. Right now, no complaint there with the phone~

However, I feel abit sad for the Nokia. Cos that is the only phone I got that never ever hang or go crazy on me. And the reward for constance devotion is being traded-off... the material world have no long lasting relation. Don't worry Nokia 6131, you will have your revenge to the Prada phone in 1 year when my installment plan ends. But then you would most likely be in China being used by another person.

Ricoh GX100 (Materialism corrupts the mind: Ricoh GX100)

I've gotten this awhile ago (Actually around 3 wks). I'm not really a camera person, but my last one (Thank you Danny~)'s battery is going weird so I needed to replace the camera. Hehehe, the camera was also 3 years old! For someone like me, it's time for a change! But I don't want to replace my camera again for awhile so I opt for a better one. I had a hard time picking between G7 (Cannon) and GX100. I asked some of the photographers who I worked with and ask them. They said it's kindna hard to choose. Since they use DSLR but they said both are very good choice. But G7 was a easier to use camera for someone in my position. But then, the LCD add on viewfinder and the wider lens is soooo coool! So I go against the advice and got the GX100 instead. hehehe. They said it's no problem because it's still a good camera!

Lowell Lo

Lowell Lo, a singer back in the 80s/90s (early i think) produces some of the best songs imho. Maybe because I always liked some folky/acoustic music i guess. And the lyrics are not the usual love story thing. Making it even more (way more) cool! Don't get me wrong, I do like HK pop.

This is my favorite song of his: 世事何曾是絕對 (Nothing is absolute). It have this theatrical opening and actually through out the whole song. Then I discovered that this song is the closing song for 1/2段情 (Infatuation) (1985).

A trip in Kowloon

Today is a holiday in Hong Kong, so I had this trip to two museums. The first one in Tuen Wan (End of Kowloon), but the place is close today!!! ( I didn't check their operating time) so that was a fast one. I then headed toward Tsim Sha Tsui to a centralize area of museums in HK. In it, is the cultural centre, the space and the art museums.

I went to the Art one. It's quite typical stuffs show-casting gold, jade, some chinese calligraphies (which are superb~ ^_^ ) and also some paintings by westerners during the beginning of Hong Kong. The way they depict Hong Kong is quite different then the way I'm told in the family. I guess it's because it's told in another cultural perspective and also the lifestyle they are in. However many of the paintings are lost when the Japanese invaded HK. So now, the hunt is ON!!!

Another treat is that there's this exhibition on Hong Kong's homeless(es). It have stories and photos of where are they now. And very happy to find out that many actually have their home now (tiny but still a home). From the many stories there, many actually live on the street cos of their pride. Very ironic actually because to avoid family that you fail, you go on living on the street. Anyway, so my observation is correct! I've been telling people that HK have less 'beggers' than when I was young.

After all this, I went to have dinner, it's still abit hard and uncomfortable to have dinner alone (unless it's fastfood chain) but then, i'm told that once you get used to it, its' one of the best experience you can get. I hope it's true. Cos I'm planning to go on a trip all alone. I'm sort of excited about this, cos I never really been on a trip alone where there is no friend or travel buddy. (except Dubai, but then that's a business trip). So my first destination is going to be Macau! haha, follow by Kyoto. Wish me luck!

Please help make a lie

Please help make a lie

It's about a poor girl in China with cancer that could take her life anytime. Her last wish is to go to see the Flag raising in Tiananment square. The girl is actually blind but just wanted to be there. However with her health condition, she can not travel from her home to Beijing. Ended up, the whole town got together and make her final wish come true by pretending that the girl actually arrived to Beijing. A total of 2000 people helps make the lie and her wish come true. Luckily, the girl is still alive today after a donation that helps her get the right treatment and she finally go to Beijing for real. :-)

Weight Wai's Weight

Doing a charity at work by signing up on how much weight we are going to lose. People sponsor a certain amount by each lb we lost. I'm targeting at 10lbs and hopefully by a combination of dieting and exercise. I will finally go to my clubhouse for the first time since I moved in almost 2 years ago. I'm just so not committed to do any sort of gym/exercise. I'm more of a comic nerd, rather read comics over the wkend then taking a walk and stuff. Ah Dat gave me alot of exercise before but now I'm on my own. hahaha. Hopefully can keep it up.

I even brought a pair of nike to commit myself for it (Check my flickr~). I chosen a polka dots Nike Free cos currently, I'm all thing polka dots! kakaka. (at least for this summer). Originally I wanted to get the nike air max '95... but it's all sold out. Only small sizes are available. It's very weird. Since converse's size for me is 8 but with nike, I have to go up to 9.javascript:void(0)5. Very hard to do a standard I guess.

Current weight: 149lb
Current waist: 34" (oh no!!!!! but pants size is still 32") >_<"

(Sweet Nothing) - Matthew Barber

After the trip back to Toronto, I revisit all thing Canadian. And one of those is Matthew Barber, an indie rock singer/songwriter – Canadian of course. I got his CD at best buy and could only get his latest one. I somehow managed to have no time to shop at HMV that much or when I'm in HMV, I totally forget what I should be getting. Anyway, I ordered his cd via Amazon and will have it early June. Can't wait!

Most favorite song is "Like lightning". Love it. Check it out at your music store. If not, you will have to buy the CD on amazon.com. noooo, I don't work for him. I just like his music. hahaha

Kid Nation

In the fall, CBS will have a show that I’m interested in. It’s call “Kid Nation”. 40 kids, 40 days in a city call Bonanza City in New Mexico. It totally remined me of Lord of the Flies, an awesome novel and the movie ain’t bad too. I hope the show won’t be a dissappointment but from their trailer, some of the kids are so mature, it’s sort of scary. I like kids to act and talk like a kid please.

When asked me 3 years ago about getting a pug, I would said never. I never really like flat nose dog. But then Dad wanted a pug pretty badly so I go with the flow. *Another lesson learned! Parents do know best. I grew to love Ah Dat in everything he does. He never seems to run out of ways to make a fool of himself and just fill me up with alot of happiness! But for both his and my own good (in feeling guilty not able to take care of him), it's going to be much better if Ah Dat moves to Toronto where he will be spoiled in a whole new level!

As of Wednesday, May 2nd. Ah Dat will become the Toronto pug!

Bye and kisses from Ah Dat – The Hong Kong pug

Dschinghis Khan

If you been on the internet and watching random video, I'm sure you would have come across the German disco band – Dschinghis Khan's Moskau. The video is awesome!!! and does the typical stereotype disco dance moves. Those old school dance and awesome campy outfits are amazing! Crazy amazing!

Their songs reminds me of Boney M though. I think it could be because of the song Rasputin. It's really similar to Moskau. The Russian sounds perhaps? On wiki, it seems that the bands does moves on even though two of the members of the original band passed away. But then, they did entertain and in a way, they are making a sort of a comeback as a cult thing on the internet.

Let's all Moskau! Moskau!

(Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft)

I really like the music of The Carpenters. Karen's voice makes me very comfortable and relax, and Richard's arranging skill is very precise (seem like a math formula to some). But with the music they are making and Karen's soft voice, I think it fits perfectly. Even though I like them alot, I never have one of their CD except the "Best of". Maybe because I'm just too cheap to buy the album when basically all their songs are on their numberous "Best of" CDs. However, I will get "Now and then" (pictured) when I'm back in Canada. hee hee.

The main reason is because of the awesome cover. I think this is one of the best album cover I ever seen. It just so different sort of like a snap shot but you know it isn't. The background, colors, everything, just reflect the time era so nicely. It also reminded me of my first home in Toronto when I was 8.

The song: "Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft" originally done by Klaatu (Canadian!) are one of my favourite song sing by The Carpenters. I like how this is breaking the usual Richard's arrangements and yet, it still have that Carpenters signature. My favourite song? It will be a tie between "I need to be in love" and "Solitaire". Such sad songs.

※ "Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft" is featured in The Carpenters' "Passage" album.

Music to buy and others

Getting close to my Toronto trip and things have been busy both in work and in my personal life. Mainly because getting my son (Ah Dat 阿達) ready for the flight and the trips to the vet have taken a big toll on my wallet. But then it's for a good reassurance and that's something I need right now.

On the light side of things, I'm building up a list of things I have to buy in Toronto. (Yes, actually there are things that I can't get in HK whereas I can get in T.O.) Mainly is because HK's range of music is quite limited – OR I just don't know where to look. A colleague of mine told me of a place which I haven't explore yet, will so do when I have some time off. Right now, the new Feist CD is out!!! OH YEAH!!! I'm sure most of you know who she is, if you don't, please remind yourself of that awesome song in Lacoste's ad. The song that sings "Helping the kids out of their coats. Oh wait the babies haven't been born oh~~ oh oh oh oh oh~" : Mushaboom.

I'm sure I can get it in HK, but then I'll be heading back to T.O. soon so I might as well get it then. Another CD is Joan Osborne's Relish. I hate myself for not getting this CD when it was released 1995, so yes, I've been hating myself for more than 10 years for this. Check her out if you haven't done so, but then how would you not know?

Now I just need to think hard to see what else to get. Maybe some vintage tees from Queen St. and hopefully a pair of nice demin at "Over the rainbow" on Yorkville. BUT, it was so hot then (When I was still in college), but now after I'm in HK, the brands they carry don't seems to be so chic anymore... but there are always hope.

Oh, and magazine! I will get tonnes of magazines!!! OH YEA!

Mixture of Chinese and English

Writing in Chinese is alot harder than I thought since I haven't use Chinese for ages. It doesn't really express what I wanted (though my English pretty suck too.) So from now on, I think I will start writing back in English (with a mix of Chinese) so that it feels more like me instead of Yahoo dictionary's translation.

Saying goodbye?
Originally uploaded by hwh222.

Kane and Abel

Sam Cooke

Sam Cooke - Live in Harlem Square Club

Sam Cooke - Live in Harlem Square Club

Lee Hazelwood

Siouxsie & the Banshees

Siouxsie & the Banshees"係一對 Punk/Goth/"New Age" (全部吾係好識) Band 先組。
