HHW's IMHO: How "Customer's always right" brought down a company

Well, actually that's just part of the reason. haha. Had a bad news the other day. One of the company I used to work for is going to cut alot of people because of some lost account. I didn't work there for a long time. Just a couple of years. But I see so much changes from the day I joined to the day I leave. It started from being professional to being "do what the client told". It's not really like that when I begin, we would usually fight with client about some changes and we back it up w/ reason. We win some, we lost some. But I feel at least that's what being professional means.

But then, "Do as the client said cos they are always right!". After that, what client wants client gets. Things become weird, styles not being follow, the wrong photos used, the wrong text, wrong spelling, everything that can become ammatureish, becomes exactly that. And when things comes up, I wonder how many time the client is gonna said "Yes, it screw up because of me.". It's more likely be "But you guys can always correct me wrong if I make a mistake. That's why I hired you guys.".

Guess customer might not always be right. And actually that's why the company is hired for the job. To make the product professional and correct for the market. No man is an island <-- Love this phase that seems to be lost in today's world. Everyone thinks they are the best. I try to be more humble and soak up everything from people around me, especially their failure. Like they said, you can only fail so many times.

And of course, there are other reasons but I feel that this 'delication' to client's satifaction in a way hinder the relationship, and brought down the company.

玩物喪志 (Materialism corrupts the mind): MoSoap

I discovered Pine Tar soap when I have some skin allergy. I'm so prone to skin allergy that it ain't even funny. Anyway, I find the Pine Tar soap really awesome and really don't dry up my skin. I find the smell... abit bad but I can manage. So I went on a soap hunt (Pine Tar soap that is). And I finally come to the destination MoSoap. *Click headline for link*

The soaps are amazing and don't smell bad as with the original one I got from Hong Kong. Anyway, the owner is very nice and you can see the personal touches and delication from the package. I even got some free samples! Maybe because I order it from oversea? For you who have skin allergy or just want some old time soap, give them a try!

玩物喪志 (Materialism corrupts the mind) : Prada Phone

The Prada phone... I use installment plans for most of my gadgets unless it's like a couple hundred off if I pay full, otherwise, I do installments. My last phone – Nokia 6131 is 1 year old ( I know, cos I just paid my 12/12 payment), so it's time to do another installment instead! I went and go for the Prada phone! I admit I'm a follower of materialism (but i do have some saving. hee hee). And this phone totally rocks! I find the camera of my last phone is not that good even with a 1.6 million color screen; I think that with cellphones, Asia is abit ahead than the rest of the world (IMHO!). Anyway, Steven and I try to persuade the other to buy the Prada phone by showing each other reviews (only good ones) over msn and photos of the phone. The Scheider lens got me completely sold on this thing and it really didn't disappoints. Also the name Prada is a nice touch! hee hee (係!我係膚淺!膚淺係我!我認!)

Under the law of Skin deep, once you got something, you must go online and reconfirm that this is the only possible choice you have by going to read more good reviews of the thing. hahahaha. Right now, no complaint there with the phone~

However, I feel abit sad for the Nokia. Cos that is the only phone I got that never ever hang or go crazy on me. And the reward for constance devotion is being traded-off... the material world have no long lasting relation. Don't worry Nokia 6131, you will have your revenge to the Prada phone in 1 year when my installment plan ends. But then you would most likely be in China being used by another person.

玩物喪志:Ricoh GX100 (Materialism corrupts the mind: Ricoh GX100)

I've gotten this awhile ago (Actually around 3 wks). I'm not really a camera person, but my last one (Thank you Danny~)'s battery is going weird so I needed to replace the camera. Hehehe, the camera was also 3 years old! For someone like me, it's time for a change! But I don't want to replace my camera again for awhile so I opt for a better one. I had a hard time picking between G7 (Cannon) and GX100. I asked some of the photographers who I worked with and ask them. They said it's kindna hard to choose. Since they use DSLR but they said both are very good choice. But G7 was a easier to use camera for someone in my position. But then, the LCD add on viewfinder and the wider lens is soooo coool! So I go against the advice and got the GX100 instead. hehehe. They said it's no problem because it's still a good camera!

用心聽:虛冠廷 Lowell Lo

Lowell Lo, a singer back in the 80s/90s (early i think) produces some of the best songs imho. Maybe because I always liked some folky/acoustic music i guess. And the lyrics are not the usual love story thing. Making it even more (way more) cool! Don't get me wrong, I do like HK pop.

This is my favorite song of his: 世事何曾是絕對 (Nothing is absolute). It have this theatrical opening and actually through out the whole song. Then I discovered that this song is the closing song for 1/2段情 (Infatuation) (1985).
